Serving the Lord with Gladness!

Phyllis Elliott Elvington, a lifelong resident of Green Sea, South Carolina, currently resides in Fair Bluff, N.C., and is a member of Fair Bluff Baptist Church. She and her husband, Charles, have three sons: Matthew Philip Elliott, John Mark Elliott, and Charles Webb Elvington, Jr. (Bonnie) and granddaughter Grace Elizabeth.

In 1976, Phyllis received her B.A. degree in Elementary Education from the University of South Carolina at Coastal Carolina College. She taught second grade, kindergarten, and gifted/talented classes at Green Sea Floyds Elementary prior to serving Horry County Schools as a part-time teacher evaluator. In 1985, when teaching full-time, she was honored by being named HCS Teacher of the Year.

Phyllis is active in service to her Lord at the church, associational, and state levels. She has served on the Board of Directors of the N.C. Baptist Foundation and on the General Board of the N.C. Baptist State Convention.

She has been a contributing writer for Start, the Mission Friends curriculum guide; the Baptist devotional, Open Windows; and Sunday School lessons in the Biblical Recorder. She has spoken and led conferences across the United States, in Haiti, and in Kenya. She is the author of five books:

  • The Practical ABC's of Prayer...Praying to your Heavenly Father about absolutely everything!

  • The Practical ABC's of World Missions...Doing your part to share Jesus' love to the ends of the earth!

Phyllis’ energetic, uplifting, and well-prepared style may have you laughing in the aisles one minute and your heart on its knees the next. From associational meetings to ministers’ wives retreats, senior adult conferences to prayer retreats, Phyllis stays quite busy Serving the Lord with Gladness.
